and Walmart.com ♪ PETE: WELL, A HISTORIC MOVE IN IRELAND AS THE COUNTRY VOTED TO REPEAL A LAW BANNING ABORTION. SOME IN THE U.S. MEDIA MARKING THIS AS A VICTORY. LISTEN.>>IN IRELAND, A ALLOW AND EMPHATIC “YES” AS VOTERS REPEAL A CONSTITUTIONAL BAN ON ABORTION A CONSTITUTIONAL BAN ON ABORTION.>>THE FINAL TALLY SHOWING OVERWHELMING SUPPORT FOR WOMEN’S REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS IN THE MOSTLY CATHOLIC COUNTRY.>>THIS VOTE MARKS A DRAMATIC SHIFT IN WHAT WAS ONCE DESCRIBED AS THE MOST CATHOLIC COUNTRY IN THE WORLD. PETE: SO, DOES THIS MOVE MOVE THE CATHOLIC FAITH MORE TO THE LEFT AS RELIGION BECOMES MORE PROGRESSIVE TO WELCOME MORE PEOPLE IN? IS THAT A GOOD THING OR SHOULD WE STICK TO THE ORIGINAL TENETS? THAT IS THE CORE QUESTION HERE, SHOULD RELIGION STAY CONSERVATIVE TO THE CORE TENETS OR FOLLOW THE PROGRESSIVE TRENDS OR FOLLOW THE PROGRESSIVE TRENDS-of-SOCIETY? LET’S BRING IN OUR RELIGIOUS PANEL TO DISCUSS. DR. MENEZAFRIDI IS A MUSLIM SCHOLARLY, DR. RAZZ IS THE NATIONAL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE, RABBI COOPER IS AN ASSOCIATE DEAN IS HE SIMON WIESENTHAL CENTER, AND FATHER JONATHAN MORRIS IS A FOX NEWS RELIGION CONTRIBUTOR. A GREAT PANEL. I COULD START IT OUT THIS WAY. A MUSLIM SCHOLAR, EVANGELICAL PASTOR, AND CATHOLIC PIECE ENTER A JAR. BUT I WON’T. IT WOULD BE THE START OF A GREAT JOKE. NO LAUGHING MATTER, A SERIOUS SUBJECT. FATHER JOHN, I WANT TO START WITH YOU. IRELAND, A PREDOMINANTLY CATHOLIC COUNTRY, WHAT IS THIS VOTE SAYING ABOUT THE CURRENT STATUS OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH?>>WE SHOULD BE CLEAR THAT THE LEADERSHIP OF THE CACHE STOOD UP AGAINST THE REPEAL OF THIS AMENDMENT, SO IT WASN’T THAT THE CATHOLIC CHURCH HAS SAID NO, THIS IS THE DIRECTION WE WANT TO GO IN. BUT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE AUTHORITY OR THE PERSUASIVENESS SUFFICIENT IN ORDER TO SAY “NO” TO THIS REPEAL OF THIS AMENDMENT TO THIS REPEAL OF THIS AMENDMENT. AND SO IT SAYS THAT, UNFORTUNATELY, SOCIETY HAS MOVED IN THIS DIRECTION SO STRONGLY OF PRO-ABORTION, YOU CALL IT WHAT YOU WANT, YOU COULD SAY NO, IT’S JUST, YOU KNOW, WE’RE JUST ALLOWING FREE CHOICE, BUT THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA ALONE SINCE WE’VE HAD UPWARDS OF 40 MILLION ABORTIONS. 40 MILLION? THAT IS A HUGE NUMBER, AND THE FACT THAT IRELAND, A CATHOLIC COUNTRY, A CHRISTIAN COUNTRY IS GOING IN THAT DIRECTION IS NOTHING TO CELEBRATE NOTHING TO CELEBRATE. PETE: ABRAHAM, YOU CALL IT A PROTEST VOTE. WHY?>>WELL, I THINK WHAT WE’RE LOOKING AT IN IRELAND IS AN EMBRACE OF THE, YOU KNOW, EU ENVIRONMENT. IRELAND’S DONE VERY WELL BY TAKING A LEAD IN THE EUROPEAN UNION. AND, YOU KNOW, AS AN ORTHODOX RABBI IT’S NOT FOR ME TO COMMENT ON WHICH A THE CHURCH SHOULD DO, BUT CLEARLY THAT SOCIETY THAT HAS MADE A MOVE AND NOW YOU HAVE A CHURCH WHERE IT’S STILL A PREDOMINANT FAITH, THERE’S PREDOMINANT TEACHERS, BUT THERE HAS TO BE A SHIFT IN TERMS OF PERSUASION RATHER THAN THE STARTING POINT, WELL, THESE ARE THE RULES, YOU FOLLOW THEM, YOU KNOW, OUR WAY OR OUT THE DOOR. IT IS A PIVOTAL MOMENT. PETE: SAMUEL, PIVOTAL MOMENT OVERALL AS WELL, FROM AN EVANGELICAL PERSPECTIVE, IS PROGRESSIVISM CREEPING INTO OUR FAITH? AND IF SO, WHAT IMPACT IS THAT HAVING ON NOT JUST IRELAND, BUT AMERICA AND THE WORLD AT LARGE?>>WELL, THE IDEA OF PROGRESSIVE CHRISTIANITY IS OXYMORONIC IN ITS DEPICTION AND ITS EXPRESSION ITS DEPICTION AND ITS EXPRESSION. YOU CAN’T HAVE BOTH PROGRESSIVE CHRISTIANITY. LET ME EXPLAIN. CHRISTIANITY IS ABOUT THE GOSPEL THE GO TO SLEEP OF JESUS NEVER CHANGES. IT’S TRUTH, LOVE, GRACE, HOPE, AND FAITH, REGARDLESS OF THE TIME, THE CULTURE, SOCIETY. TRUTH, LOVE, GRACE, AND HOPE SHOULD NEVER BE SACRIFICED ON THE ALTAR OF POLITICAL, CULTURAL OR SEXUAL EXPEDIENCY OR SEXUAL EXPEDIENCY. PETE: ABSOLUTELY. MENAZ, BRIEFLY ON THIS, WHAT DOES ISLAM HAVE TO SAY ABOUT ABORTION AND LIFE AS IT PERTAINS NOT JUST TO IRELAND BUT THE WHOLE ISSUE?>>WELL, ISLAM, LIKE ALL THE OTHER ABRAHAMIC FAITHS, BELIEVES THAT, YOU KNOW, THERE IS A VALUE OF HUMAN LIFE. HOWEVER, IT’S ALSO A VERY PRACTICAL RELIGION WHERE THERE HAVE BEEN CERTAIN LEGAL SCHOLARS THAT HAVE SAID THAT IF THERE IS A DANGER OF MOTHER’S HEALTH OR THERE IS SOME KIND OF DISEASE, THAT IT IS PERMISSIBLE UNDER A CERTAIN KIND OF LEGAL SITUATION. IT’S NOT THAT MUSLIMS DON’T — ARE PROMOTING ABORTION AT ALL, BUT I THINK THAT THERE ARE CERTAIN LOOPHOLES IN THE ISLAMIC LAW, AND THERE ARE CERTAIN FATWA LAW, AND THERE ARE CERTAIN FATWAS WHICH IS JUST A LEGAL OPINION FROM SCHOLARS THAT DO ALLOW IT UNDER CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES. IT’S A VERY MULTILAYERED ISSUE. I’M THE ONLY WOMAN HERE ON THE PANEL SO I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT IT IS AN ISSUE THAT’S VERY COMPLEX FOR ALL WOMEN, WHETHER THEY ARE PRO-ABORTION OR AGAINST ABORTION. PETE: OF COURSE.>>I ALSO DON’T LIKE THE TERM “>>I ALSO DON’T LIKE THE TERM “PRO-ABORTION.” I DON’T THINK ANYONE IS PRO- I DON’T THINK ANYONE IS PRO-ABORTION. I THINK WE’RE ALL PRO-LIFE AND IT’S ABOUT HOW WE SEE LIFE IS IMPORTANT TO US IN OUR FAITH IMPORTANT TO US IN OUR FAITH. PETE: ONE MORE TOPIC, TRY TO GET YOU ALL TO CHIME IN ON IT BRIEFLY. IS THE U.S. PLUMMETING BIRTHRIGHT A SIGN THAT A FOCUS ON FAMILY VALUES ARE DIMINISHING ON FAMILY VALUES ARE DIMINISHING? THE NEW STATS FROM THE NATIONAL CENTER FOR HEALTH STATISTICS SHOWS THAT LESS BABIES ARE BEING BORN IN THE UNITED STATES. THE REPLACEMENT RATE IS GENERALLY TWO KIDS PER FAMILY, BUT YOU SEE THOSE NUMBERS, THE NUMBER OF BABIES BORN PER YEAR IS DROPPING. FATHER JOHN, LET ME START WITH YOU. THE STEREOTYPE OF COURSE IS THAT CATHOLIC FAMILIES HAVE LOTS OF KIDS. IF THAT IS CHANGING, WOULD THAT BE A SIGN THAT THE VIEW OF FAMILIES IS CHANGING FOR CATHOLICS AS WELL?>>I THINK SO. I MEAN, I THINK THE SEXUAL REVOLUTION HAS AFFECTED THE CATHOLIC CHURCH, THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA IN A PROFOUND WAY, SAYING SEX HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH PROCREATION. AND IT’S NOT ALL ABOUT PROCREATION. IT’S ALSO ABOUT THE UNITIV ACTION, BUT THERE’S ALSO VERY PRACTICAL POLITICAL THINGS THAT ARE CHANGING IN THE UNITED STATES. FOR EXAMPLE, PEOPLE ARE GRADUATING FROM COLLEGE WITH $200,000 OF DEBT, AND ARE THEY GOING TO GET MARRIED TO SOMEBODY WHO HAS $200,000 OF DEBT AND START OFF A FAMILY THAT’S $400,000 OF DEBT AND HAVE CHILDREN? IT’S NOT EASY. THAT’S WHY POLITICS MATTER. ALSO VERY IMPORTANT THINGS LIKE FAMILY LIFE FAMILY LIFE. PETE: ABRAHAM, FOR EACH OF YOU WITHIN I WANT TO GET YOU ALL IN, I DON’T HAVE THAT MUCH TIME YET. WHAT IS ABOUT BIRTHRATE THAT MATTERS IN DEMOGRAPHICS?>>TAKE A LOOK AT OUR TWO ALLIES JAPAN AND ISRAEL. JAPAN’S VERY AFFLUENT. THEY’RE PROBABLY GOING TO GO FROM 130 MILLION TO 80 MILLION PEOPLE. THEY’RE NOT BRINGING CHILDREN INTO THE WORLD. I THINK THEY’VE LOST THEIR VALUES. ISRAEL, YOU YOU GUYS COVER THEM EVERY DAY, IT’S UNDER THE GUN, EXISTENTIAL THREATS. THE BIRTHRATE AMONG RELIGIOUS AND SECULAR PEOPLE IS GOING UP BECAUSE THEY HAVE A SENSE OF THEIR PAST AND FUTURE. AS FAR AS AMERICA, IT’S CALLED THE iPHONE. THIS IS THE ME GENERATION. MY SUGGESTION IS SHUT THE DAMN THING OFF AND GO BACK TO BASIC VALUES VALUES. PETE: SAMUEL, WHY DO KIDS MATTER PETE: SAMUEL, WHY DO KIDS MATTER?>>KIDS MATTER. IT’S A DE FACTO OUTCOME OF A CONSTANT MOCKERY OF THE INSTITUTION OF THE FAMILY. WE SEE THAT CULTURALLY IN FILMS AND MOVIE AND CONTENT, IN WRITINGS, PUBLICATIONS, SOCIAL MEDIA. THE FAMILY NOW IS A JOKE, AND EVEN THE IDEA OF A MODERN FAMILY A TRADITIONAL FAMILY FOR WHATEVER — HOWEVER YOU WANT TO DESCRIBE IT IS A JOKE. SO IT’S UNDER ASSAULT, KIDS MATTER, IT’S THE FUTURE OF AMERICA, THE FUTURE OF MORALITY AND SPIRITUALITY, THE FUTURE OF OUR HUMAN EXISTENCE INDEED OUR HUMAN EXISTENCE INDEED. PETE: MENAZ, YOU SPECULATE THAT THE ECONOMY HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH BIRTHRATES AS WELL.>>ABSOLUTELY. I MEAN, I THINK IF YOU LOOK AT STATISTICS AND IF YOU LOOK AT DATA, WOMEN ARE HAVING KIDS LATER, WOMEN HAVE TROUBLE HAVING KIDS LATER BECAUSE THEY’RE LOOKING FOR A PROFESSIONAL LIFE. THEY HAVE TO BOTH BE WORKING, A MAN AND WOMAN OR ANY KIND OF RELATIONSHIP YOU HAVE TO BOTH HAVE INCOMES. I THINK THE ECONOMIC FACTOR IN THE UNITED STATES MAKES IT VERY HARD FOR MIDDLE CLASS AND LOWER MIDDLE CLASS FAMILIES TO HAVE A WHOLE REALISTIC ECONOMIC PLAN. AND I THINK THAT PEOPLE ARE GETTING MARRIED LATER, EVEN IN THE MUSLIM-AMERICAN COMMUNITY I SEE THIS AS A BIG IMPACT SEE THIS AS A BIG IMPACT. PETE: IT’S AN AMAZING CULTURAL CONVERSATION BECAUSE IN THE WEST FAMILIES ARE HAVING LESS KIDS, BUT A LOT OF THE REFUGEE OR IMMIGRANT POPULATIONS MOVING INTO THOSE COUNTRIES ARE HAVING MORE KIDS, WHICH CHANGES THE WHOLE RELIGIOUS, CULTURAL, AND SOCIAL DYNAMIC IN THOSE COUNTRIES. IT TRULY MATTERS. WE’RE GOING TO HAVE YOU GUYS BACK, I HAVE A FEELING, ON

  1. Religion is bs, live in the moment enjoy the current time, if god is real and he really loves you he will understand that you don’t want to waste your life sitting in a cold ass church at 8 in the morning

  2. Not an Irishman there. Not a story on Ireland or us Irish who campaigned on the issue, but an excuse for masturbatory evangelical backpatting

  3. "The idea of progressive Christianity is oxymoronic" says the Reverend who's messiah was crucified for arguing for massive wealth redistribution.

  4. Religion is a fairytale made up to control weak minded people. There is no place for it in todays society, it has killed more people. Any other reason.

  5. I am amazed at how this debate has descended into pure hate for the Catholic Church. I am not standing up for the Church and it's cover-ups, I am just disappointed that the YES people seem to have no other justification. Do they also hate the Presbyterians up North; these women are U.K. citizens? I will end my input by pleading with some woman to answer a question I have asked many times; since YOU consider it is YOUR body please tell me AT WHAT POINT DO YOU CONSIDER IT A LIVING BEING IN IT'S OWN RIGHT? Nothing to do with religion or law; just give me an enlightened answer. I have asked this question before and it remains unanswered. We were asked to trust women on this so i presume someone MUST know. Please answer soon without refering to Catholicisism. Those who are unenlighteened should keep an eye on replies to my simple question, if I ever get one.

  6. 5 hours ago I asked ANY WOMAN to enlighten me on when a woman considers an unborn to have an entity of it's own. Still no replies. Surely some feminists must know. Is it up to the point that the umbilical cord is cut? Anyone???

  7. Catholic country but in name only, Dublin which makes up about 27% of the population has a church going population of about 14%. Ireland voted in favor of gay marriage and has a gay Prime minister. Very progressive.

  8. Still no reply. Dear feminists, please tell me at what point in the pregnancy do you consider the unborn NOT to be your body but an entity init's own right. Question posted 19 hours ago, no reply. Very fundmental question. The Catholic Church has questions to answer but it seems to me that the driving force behind all of this was hate. Nothing good is born of hate of hate; as with Nazisim, Facism, Communism, Radicalism etc. Is Feminism to join these ranks?

  9. the Catholic Church didn't move anywhere, they advocated for NO, the electorate put religious beliefs aside and voted on a secular issue. i am Irish the Catholic Church were very angry about all this, they said Yes voters should go to confession, should not get communion and individual priests did petty stuff such as making a charity move its collection bins off church property because they refused to show a stance for either side. which was quite hypocritical as in the same week it came out our adoption authority found loads of evidence they were lying on birth certs and selling kids to the USA by the thousand. child traffickers should go to confession.

  10. Another aspects is the hugh mass graves of found in the mother and baby homes run by the church. Thousands of children died under the churches orders. It is disgusting and so it is a protest to that.

  11. Pro life? How is aborting unborn babies pro life? I can't help but feel concerned with the mental health of the doctors and nurses who will now have to abort the millions of unborn babies. I wonder if the pro abortion voters have witnessed an abortion in person?

  12. Not a predominately catholic country. Most people couldn’t give a shit about religion, only in name.

  13. Ugh, Fox has a whole discussion because Ireland doesn't fit their view of a little Catholic country anymore – a debate that doesn't include any actual Irish people who know the situation here. We've been moving forward without the oppression of the church for decades. And thank god for that.

  14. The Irish priesthood generally said that they were going to step aside from the issue because they said that this was the people’s choice so what the first idiot said about the religious order wanting to get involved is a load of bollucks. Anyways why is America getting involved in MY countries politics, worry about your own shitty country

  15. “Separation of church and State” Act, have any of these people heard of this? Also before they make out Ireland to being an amazingly religious place, let me remind everyone of how feared the Catholic Church was/ is here. Magdalen laundries, priest abusing kids, babies being auctioned off to America are just a few of the things the church have done in this country not so long ago. And as for the man who said the Bible has never changed…you might wanna check that fact dude, the Bible has been changed by monarchs and those in power hundreds of times over the years. It is not the same as what was written hundreds of years ago

  16. As an Irish man myself everyone in our country is sick of these ancient laws made by the church to try make us have these old and ridiculous views its time to move forward and by saying YES to gay marriage and YES to abortion shows we are moving in the right way

  17. Ireland is not ruled by the church you idiots,we are a secular state….why can you guys not research anything correctly

  18. Haha it is almost like a nations constitution should represent the will of the people an should be changes accordingly. America can't quite grasp that a constitution is there to be constantly updated instead of living by values/laws set out hundreds of years ago.

  19. Goodbye church! and feic off Fox, this is a stupid panel discussing that which does not concern you. "Church's move to the left", is also a) nonsense and b) irrelevant.

  20. I'm just here to laugh at all the religious people who clearly don't know what they're on about, both in the video and in the comments. Next stops a united ireland lads.

  21. Woah woah woah… The church totally opposed repealing the abortion ban…. The church hasn't gone more liberal!?!?!?!?

  22. I saw a picture of a girl holding a sign in Dublin that said "keep your rosaries off my ovaries". I agree

  23. Ok,first off we are still a majority Catholic country. Secondly no one controls us the English don’t nor the church. We as a people have chosen a path that is probably the right path to choose, now I had mixed feelings about this whole thing,I also don’t like how liberal my government is becoming,I have no problem with gay marriage or anything like that but if this feminism shit starts I swear.

  24. The vote here had Facebook ban ads about abortion from outside Ireland (rich republican white men)to have a unmanipulated vote

  25. I love it that kids "matter" to them. Problem – they do just until they are born, not costing anything, not needing healthcare, clothing, education, housing, healthy and employed parents, a healthy environment, etc. But as soon as their misery shows the neglect of the system, they are molchers, criminals, irresponsible, etc. etc. Then they and their families on their own and all these religious hypocrites dwell in their righteousness. It is high time to leave the most personal decisions in life to the people who have to live it.

  26. Now the next step is making irish in schools an optional language. AT THE MINIMUM. Personally i would let it die but you should have the CHOICE of studying the language

  27. PLEASE, would any woman who says abortion is a right th choose over her own body, tell me at waht point she considers the unborn to be a living, seperate entity? This question has been unanswered for 6 days.

  28. Catch me having only 2 kids at like 30 because I want to live my life and actually be financially prepared to support myself and them.

  29. It's a woman's body it's a woman's right it's a woman's choice and by the way as a man who is from and lives in Ireland I will tell you we all HATE the EU so it's no protest vote and you should call that priest and tell him it's not pro abortion it's pro choice

  30. Most biased panel ever. You do not understand Irish people. Ireland is not a Catholic country you do not understand Ireland. Do you even know Irish people were once oppressed? Religion should not have a say in how a government works and the only Irish holiday you know is st Patricks day.

  31. OK so lets accept the 40,000,000 abortion figure is true, that means the US's population today would have a minimum of 60,000,000, 40,000,000 plus the children they would have produced, extra mouths to feed, house educate, find jobs for, look after when sick.
An body volunteering to pay the extra taxes to pay for that???

  32. The church never ONCE dropped its position on abortion and is not at all an example of “liberalised Christianity” the church is just obsolete in modern Ireland. After years of child abuse, cover ups, a wildly successful paedophile exchange program, selling the stolen babies of single mothers to wealthy families overseas, imprisoning women in glorified work camps up until 1997 For the crime of not being “respectable” in Catholic Ireland, 35 years of countless women suffering and dying because of the restrictive abortion laws and the Catholic church insisting it is morally “just” all the while the horror stories of the perverse atrocities they committed when they had a vice-like grip on the country came trickling out. The people of Ireland just see them for the hypocrites they are, this issue was a medical and moral one, not a single person I met used the church as fulcrum on which they based their decision. And for the record the vast amounts of money that were funnelled into the “No” campaign were primarily from US donors who were members of non-Catholic right-wing fundamentalist groups trying to meddle in Irish politics. Also the birth rate is plummeting all across the west because no one can fucking afford to have children!! It's the capitalists society taken to it's logical extreme, on paper Ireland is one of the richest countries in the world and yet we have an unprecedented housing crisis, hospital shortages and homeless crisis (the worst in the history of the country), to qualify for a mortgage to purchase an average 3-bed home in the suburbs of Dublin now a couple must be making a combined 112,000eu with a 50,000eu deposit) Now, here is a fun list of all the other things the church in Ireland has actively campaigned against over the years;
1944 – Tampons (may arouse women)
1950 – Mother & Child Schemes (OBS-GYNE care, education and a grant given to women to help with childrearing costs)
1970 – Studying at Trinity College (our top university which was traditionally all-male)
1973 – Married women in the Civil Service (They didn’t want women to work and yet also didn’t agree with them being given state funding to help with the costs of raising their children, coz ya know, it was illegal for them to work)
    1985 – Contraception
    1986 – Divorce
    1993 – Decriminalization of homosexuality
    1996 – Divorce
2005 – Ferns report into child abuse (a state-funded investigation into the widespread and horrific child abuse in church-run children’s homes)
    2010 – Civil Partnerships
2013 – Abortions if mother’s LIFE was at risk
    2015 – Equal Marriage
    2018 – Abortion

  33. republicans, you lost your war against gays, and you will lose your war against abortion
get used to it b.c people don't want to be controlled by religion

  34. The Catholic church in Ireland pissed away its moral authority on abortion, gay marriage, divorce and every over issue on which it once presumed to dictate how people should live.

Priests raped and abused too many children, ruined the lives of too many women, took and sold too many babies, then covered up too many of these crimes in order to protect the church's authority and financial assets, to presume to speak from a position of moral righteousness. The corruption extends throughout the church from parish priests to bishops to cardinals, right through the Vatican, to the very top of the church hierarchy. The entire Catholic church is rotten to the core.

The rejection of theocracy in favour of secularism is long overdue in Ireland. Let the priests moan and complain over the loss of their political power and their bogus pretence of moral authority – they have no one to blame but themselves. The average of Irish priests is over 70. They are dying off. In 2017, in all the seminaries in Ireland, only 7 men trained for the priesthood. Even among Catholics, no one even wants to be a priest anymore – what does that tell you?

  35. If I were an atheist, I would still be against abortion because it would seem to me that a pregnant woman contains a 2ND body which is either already occupied by another person or is reserved for another person by nature. If I were an atheist I would view abortion as a crime against nature and maybe against a fellow human being, so let's not make this solely a religious issue because this is simply a question of right or wrong.

  36. I am anti-abortion, but intersection of church and state will not serve either well

  37. This discussion is just odd. The yes vote was not religious people going to the left, it was the rejection of religion. People in Ireland are not religious anymore and it's a myth that Ireland is a Catholic country. The whole premise of this discussion is delusional because religion had no influence in the vote at all.

  38. People cannot afford kids. Modern society does not allow people to have kids without there being a grave risk of dependency and poverty which educated people will not tolerate.

  39. Ireland has fallen, sadly so has many other countries…it's all about selfishness today and the fact that they're mainly Catholic says a lot.

  40. We have entered into a time where good is bad and bad is good. Good morals are now an outdated concept to most people it seems.

  41. Religion in Ireland has not moved to the ''left'' (in an additional point, can you also stop extrapolating your understanding of political situations in your country to those around the world?), the RCC is still anti-abortion and their position has not changed. The country is just becoming less and less religious so what religious leaders think and say no longer has the power it once did over the lay people.

  42. Im here in Ireland and not all of us voted yes. We the Irish have been hijacked by the gay agenda and george soros . Remember 1 million voted no and about 3 million said nothing. Ireland is split just like the u.n wanted..

  43. The Catholic Church presided over a dictatorship of Ireland. This is the social progress our country has embraced in light of gaining autonomy over the abuses of the Church. What's more, this laughably biased panel horribly misrepresents facts, failing to mention the rapid decline of the Church in the country. PS Irish people don't graduate with $200k debt, only Americans do – because people like you are regressing the society.

  44. If these pro-lifers are so concerned with saving the lives of unwanted babies, ask how many of them have adopted unwanted babies from orphanages? These rabid pro-lifers would tear down mountains to save the life of a fetus the size of a thimble but as soon as it's born, most of them would never give the baby a second thought.

  45. People like to blame the left for everything. But neoliberals would be the first to encourage abortion if the child was born to a family on the dole.

  46. America has to build a wall to keep Catholics out of America yet, they can't get birth control and are encouraged to have as many kids as possible.
    It's absolutely Insane!

  47. And the Americans start their debate on an Irish referendum on women's issues with a panel of 3 men and 1 woman………
Irish adults, men and women, voted to repeal the 8th amendment – in a landslide win.
And why such a determined effort to make this about religion and particularly the Catholic Church??? THAT was probably their biggest mistake.
The catholic church has turned out to be a pretty rotten, money making, amoral cesspit. Not the best platform to use.
And how about next time you look at such a fundamentally important issue in another country – talk to those who live there, who are living with the issues and are fighting them!
Americans – less children being born?
    Absoflippinglutely!!!!
Debt, everywhere! America is getting richer but the vast majority of American citizens are getting poorer – financially it's a struggle for a couple to cope – it's a brave couple who'll risk taking on even one child when their finances are so fragile!
It's the same in many countries. People aren't willing to trade their lives – where they're just about swimming financially – to step back toward poverty to try to raise a family.

  48. Yeah they had a say and authority over the women of Ireland for long enough proud of Ireland everything to celebrate 💪💪

  49. I hope we Irish will regain our Catholic faith and will again respect ALL life. This society of moral relativism will only last so long, history has shown it never lasts and we as Christians while expected such a society to take forth know it will only lead to a renewal in the Christian faith in the world. The moral relativists days are numbered

  50. Nothing got to do with religion anyone with a brain knows killing a living human being is wrong and its not supporting women. The mental health impact of abortion on women far outweighs the risks of giving birth and having a child. Shame on Ireland ashamed to be Irish.
