Congress has 16 working days to avoid government shutdown

NEIL: ALL RIGHT, THEY’RE BACK. THE GOVERNMENT IS NOW BACK IN SESSION. CONGRESS IS BACK. IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT, THEY HAVE 16 WORKING DAYS TO TECHNICALLY AVOID A SHUTDOWN. THEY HAVE 12 SPENDING BILLS THAT HAVE TO BE DECIDED SO IN RAPID FASHION. THAT COULD PROVE A LOT EASIER SAID THAN DONE. CHAD PERGRAM MONTHS AGO WHEN THEY WERE SCORING THIS SO-CALLED SHUTDOWN AVOIDING BILL, DEMOCRATS AND REPUBLICANS BOTH MUTUALLY JUMPED OFF THE FISCAL CLIFF ON IT, HE HAD WARNED IT WAS NOT A DONE DEAL. IT IS STILL NOT A DONE DEAL, ISN’T IT? REPORTER: THAT’S RIGHT. PART OF THE PROBLEM IS TIME. HOUSE MAJORITY LEADER STENY HOYER IS TALKING ABOUT PUTTING TOGETHER A INTERIM SPENDING BILL. SENATE APPROPRIATIONS COMMITTEE WILL TRY TO MOVE FOUR BILLS THROUGH COMMITTEE IN NEXT WEEK OR TWO. WE’LL SEE IF THEY SYNC UP WITH THE HOUSE FOR THE REMAINING EIGHT BILLS. HERE IS THE FLY IN THE OINTMENT. PRESIDENT TRUMP STARTED TO GO AROUND CONGRESS, BYPASSING CONGRESS, MOVING AROUND MONEY FOR MILITARY CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS TO PAY FOR HIS WORDER WALL. YOU COULD SEE WHERE MEMBERS OF CONGRESS FROM BOTH SIDES OF THE AISLE, NEIL MIGHT WANT TO PUT RESTRICTIONS IN THE SPENDING BILL FROM DOING THAT THE POWER OF THE PURSE ACCORDING TO THE CONSTITUTION GOES TO THE CONGRESS. THAT IS THE PROBLEM THEY HAVE WITH THAT. THE OTHER ISSUE HERE IS IMPEACHMENT. HOUSE JUDICIARY COMMITTEE IS GOING TO TRY TO FORMALIZE WHAT THEY WILL LOOK AT IN A MARK-UP SESSION ON THURSDAY. THIS COULD INCENSE THE PRESIDENT, THEY CAN’T COME TO ANY AGREEMENT WHAT SORRY. THAT WILL BE REAL PROBLEM HERE. THE OTHER ISSUE THEY HAVE TO WORK OUT IS THE USMCA. THERE WEREN’T MANY TALKS OVER THE AUGUST RECESS. IN FACT I WAS TOLD A COUPLE POINT THEY MIGHT EVEN GET A PIECE OF PAPER UP HERE, FORMALIZING THAT. THAT NEVER HAPPENED. HOUSE MAJORITY LEADER KEVIN McCARTHY IS PUTTING PRESSURE ON SPEAK OF THE HOUSE. LISTEN.>>ONLY ONE PERP HAS THE POWER, SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE. IF SHE DELAYS IT, IT IS ABOUT POLITICS INSTEAD OF PUTTING AMERICA FIRST.>>HERE IS THE PROBLEM, THEY DON’T HAVE THE VOTES TO ADVANCE IT. YOU WILL NEED A COALITION OF SOME REPUBLICANS AND DEMOCRATS. PELOSI WANTS TO GET PEOPLE ON BOARD DEALING WITH ENFORCEMENT, INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY, PHARMACEUTICALS ALL THESE AREAS THERE SO SHE HAS A BIG CHUNK OF DEMOCRATS. WHEN I TALK TO DEMOCRATIC AIDES, THE PRESIDENT WANTS A PIECE OF PAPER SIGNED HERE. DEMOCRATS FEEL LIKE THEY HAVE THE UPPER HAND. YOU CAN SEE WHERE THE ISSUE ON THE USMCA STARTS TO RAMP UP BECAUSE CONGRESS IS BACK IN SESSION, NEIL. NEIL: IT HAS BEEN ALMOST A YEAR SINCE THE LEADERS OF CANADA, UNITED STATES, MEXICO WROTE OFF ON THIS THING. THAT IS AMAZING.>>ABSOLUTELY. A LOT OF PEOPLE THOUGHT IT WOULD BE AN END OF THE YEAR PROJECT ANYWAY, MORE LIKE OCTOBER, NOVEMBER, DECEMBER BUT WE STARTED TO HEAR RUMBLINGS THIS COULD DRIP INTO NEXT YEAR. IF YOU’RE IN ELECTION YEAR, IT IS KATY-BAR-THE-DOOR AT THAT POINT. NEIL: REAL QUICKLY, THESE 12 SPENDING MEASURES, DO YOU NEED THEM ALL PASSED TO AVOID ANY DISRUPTIONS TO THE GOVERNMENT?>>YES, YES. THEY COULD LUMP THEM ALL TOGETHER IN INTERIM SPENDING BILL BUT CAN THEY KNOCK OUT A COUPLE INDIVIDUAL ONES? POSSIBLY. THAT IS WHAT THE SENATE WANTS TO DO. BUT THEY WOULD HAVE TO ALIGN WITH THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. NEIL: THANK YOU MY FRIEND. WE’RE UP 10 POINTS. CONCERNS ABOUT TRADE. CONCERNS WHAT HAPPENS NOW ON THIS ONGOING BACK AND FORTH WITH

  1. We survived Just fine with the last shutdown. If the fed has to furlough 100,000 non essential employees, fire em.
The real lesson of the shutdown is that TOO MUCH of the US Economy and authoritative functions is hostage to the Federal Government. The shutdown merely illustrates how much of our Government is wasteful, duplicative, and redundancy driven. We simply do not need much of the federal Department of Education. States and municipalities can and should run education at the local level, with at best a federal standard for curriculum. Why we have 16 different intelligence gathering agencies.

Even worse is how Liberals fabricate “Crisis” in lieu of the partial shutdown. Look no further than the World War II Memorial. This is an open-air facility on the National Mall — no more than an area of grass with a monument at the center. By comparison with….the National Parks Service is not usually one of the more controversial government agencies. But, come “shutdown,” they’re reborn as the shock troops of the punitive bureaucracy. Thus, they decided to close down an unfenced open-air site — which oddly enough requires more personnel to shutter than it would to keep it open. “Mandatory spending” (Social Security, Medicare, et al.) is authorized in perpetuity — or, at any rate, until total societal collapse. If you throw in the interest payments on the debt, that means two-thirds of the federal budget is beyond the control of Congress’s so-called federal budget process. That’s why you’re reading government “shutdown” stories as Horrifying…………

  2. Are you talking about the government that wants to control our food, wants to control our borders, wants to control our vaccines, wants to take away our guns, ammunition, you talking about the same government the participated in the illegal gun running New Mexico? Or the force healthcare plan. That's okay you can go ahead and shut the government down for All We Care. Are you talking about the rest areas will be affected, borders will be affected. Sounds to me like we the people need to take back around country. Do you really think that we need the government survive?

There's plenty of federal lands and state lands that we can live off of if you were government collapses. We will live.

  3. Consider the conspiracy of blackmail by federal law des and it. Allied by the state and this is confirmed by a farce where I have the names that violated the water rights between the United States and Mexico. and for the companies and (Oilman) but as I said before everyone is a conspiracy

  4. How many mueller reports embarrassment till they stop being anti American. Answer never because even if they say that they will never do anything like that again there words are lies they have shown there true colors over and over again. People don’t change over night neither will the democrats.

  5. Great ForeSight Congress > This does Not Bode Well for your ForeSight regarding "Real" Issues facing our USA !

A bunch of Bureaucratic Parasites at the Expense of the USA !

  6. People that keep shutting down the government and refusing to work with others should be investigated for corruption and trafficking….. Possible connections to pedophile rings

  7. The best thing that could happen would be for the corrupt US government and all of its 3-letter agencies to shut down permanently.

  8. They have the President's budget proposal and have done nothing but mess with it to make it impossible to pass. If they don't pass a real budget then let it shut down and don't trust their promises. Trusting them the last time proved to be a mistake. All of the employees that find themselves out of work can fill jobs in the private sector where there are plenty of openings. Pelosi and the Democrats have not done their job and there is no way to blame Trump or the Republicans without the lies being obvious this time. The Democrats have no problem with spending money, they just can't stand for it to be spent with any positive effects.

  9. Taxpayers will get more of the same some stop gap spending bill no solution by congress democrats continuing to waste taxpayer money

  10. Year, were really going to feel it when lazy bastard Dems in Congress shut down. ‘His’ boarder wall? You punk, it’s OUR boarder wall.

  11. Democrats will used our 2nd Amendment rights to come up with there agreement keep from shutting down. Congress pays goes on if they do shut down.

  12. Screw Pelosi SHUT. IT. DOWN. ALOT OF OUR. REPS. ARE CRIMINALS ALL FED LAW ARE CRIMINALS SHUT THE GOVERNMENT DOWN WITH NO PAY.

  13. I think some Democrats are still talking about the Muller report. And 40 are pushing for impeachment. They are way to busy to run the country right now. And immagration reform? Maybe next year. Or maybe 2021?

  14. When you finally cut you cable, you finally learn or realize that you really did not need it. Government is afraid that we will learn or realize that we really do not need them. That is the scary pare for them, and it shouldnt be for us. Besides, the spend 90% of their time on issues that want to enslave us more anyway.

  15. The last federal government shutdown cost the economy $11 billion. Although most of the damage to the economy was reversed as federal workers return to their jobs, the CBO estimated $3 billion in economic activity is permanently lost. The answer is to vote them out and elect someone who will do the job.

  16. SHUT IT DOWN THE WORTHLESS TYRANTS HAVEN'T DONE ANYTHING IN 3 YRS ACCEPT CRY IMPEACHMENT AND ARE CLAIMING TO START THIS SESSION OFF WITH IMPEACHMENT GARBAGE TOO

  17. What the dems have done is hold off until the last minute so Trump would give in to congress demands. Trumps already done it twice and cave let's hope not again and the Republicans will get something from this.

  18. if there is a shut down it will be the speaker's fault……………….. I still hate the never trump mentality from Cavuto and his guest.. Second he is the commander in chief he commands the military period he declares what's national security under presidential powers…JFK and other famous Democratic leaders has done the same as Trump but now they want a freak show so they throw there mellow dramatic tantrum to get attention like spoiled disconnected baby's they are… Trump 2020….

  19. Maybe we should shut down the existing government and start a whole new government that actually cares about the American people!

  20. How about we shut down Congress's pay until they actually do SOMETHING TO BENEFIT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE! Enough of their puddly crap, do what the Americans pay you to do. Balance the budget or stay in congress until you do…period!

  21. Crap..Their back from recess…For what.??. They don't do anything anyway unless you consider impeachment hearings doing something…

  22. Anyone else notice the commercials universally became less "woke" during the last Shutdown? I suspect there is some gov't office affected by the Shutdowns that gives advertisers narrative-influence "grants."

  23. 16 days of work and complaining about it. how about working some dubel shifts like a lot of Americans do or two jobs to pay Bill's if we have a shut down you remanufactured it I mean it's just a part time job anyway no big deal not important

  24. Tired of congress. Always doing nothing for the good of Americans. Letting them run out of money is easier than running them out of town!
